Jennifer Merrill Thompson is a freelance writer-editor, a former newspaper journalist, and a mother of three. Living in Northern Virginia, she has written about a variety of topics, including parenting issues. In the late 1990s, she researched sex selection methods in order to learn what she could do to increase her family’s chances of conceiving a baby girl.
After first trying at-home methods (which resulted in the birth of her second wonderful son), Thompson and her husband next focused on the new MicroSort technology. Living near the headquarters of MicroSort (a center for sperm sorting technology), she did her research and learned all about the lastest high-tech methods for gender selection. After several attempts, they finally welcomed their daughter in 2002.
After the birth of her third child, Thompson has been writing about her experiences to let others know that they, too, can “chase their gender dream.” She has been contacted by people from all over the world interested in this topic. For her book, she interviewed a variety of women about their experiences with gender selection, she collected medical opinions, she researched every method that is out there, and she put it all together in one resource for couples. Being the natural researcher that she is—after working at several daily newspapers—she learned everything she could about baby gender selection. Now she is sharing it with others.
Reaching her goal of a “balanced” family, Thompson and her husband reside outside of Washington, D.C., where they enjoy raising their two sons and daughter and numerous pets.
